VOYAGES concert
Federation Square
Australia Day 2006
For 2006, the VOYAGES concert explored the origins of the bagpipes and its journey from Central Asia into both the eastern and western parts of the globe. It featured the cultures that have been influenced by bagpipes as they traveled around the world. The concert also explored the bagpipes’ influence through Captain Cook's Voyage on choral music in the pacific and its final arrival in Australia.
Over 700 performers from over 40 culturally diverse acts will take part in the Australia Day Voyages concert with original music and dances choreographed specifically for the event.
Tthe finale spectacle involved over 200 bagpipers coming together for a crescendo – decrescendo into the fireworks.
