DIETER BAJZEK - Graphic Design

Dieter joined PAN Event Entertainment in early 2004, adding his wealth of diverse experiences to this major cultural event management company.


Born in Austria, he came to Australia in 1962 and left his original profession of photo-lithography in order to study music. After initial percussion studies at the Melbourne Conservatorium, he attended La Trobe University, where he obtained his Masters Degree (music/composition) in 1986, also completing two years of Art History and two years of Cinema Studies.

His wide-ranging previous employment history and experiences include working for five years as senior music tutor at La Trobe University; being general manager of New Market Music (recording studio and record label) from 1992 to 1995; has wide experiences as conductor of several choirs (including founder and director of The Austrian Choir – Melbourne since 1981); was the founding administrator of the Folk Alliance Australia for seven years (1997-2004); has been performing as musician and vocalist for many years, as well as composing and arranging music; has produced a number of CDs; has been successful in extensive graphic arts designing and production; has been planning, promoting and managing hundreds of events, concerts, conventions and tours; was editor of national newsletters and is the author of an internationally acclaimed reference book on percussion.

He was recipient of the D.M. Myers Medal (for most outstanding Honours graduate at La Trobe University, 1980) and recipient of a postgraduate Commonwealth Scholarship (1981). Other previous honorary positions include chairperson of the world music organisation The Boite in Melbourne (1999-2001) and Hon. Vice-Consul for Austria in Melbourne (1996-2003). In October 1995, the Austrian Government awarded him the very prestigious “ Cross of Honour for Arts and Science” for his contribution to Austrian music in Australia, in July 1998 he received the “Golden Medal of Honour” from the Austrian state of Styria, and in 2002 he was elected a member of the Music Council of Australia..
